Because he worked in a Pet Milk factory when he was a teenager. I saw a can of Pet Evaporated Milk at the store today and the memory came flooding back to me.

The applesauce/blackberry/zucchini combo is good! I can't taste even a hint of the zucchini so I'm going to add more next time. I may cut back on the blackberries a bit though, not because it doesn't taste good but because I'd like it to taste a bit more like apples.
